John received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign. During undergraduate studies, he worked with the Kinetics Materials Research Group to investigate coiled fiber actuators as well as their application in robots. John completed his M.S. in Robotics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, during which he worked at the Neurobionics lab focused on data processing for motion capture data. John is continuing to work in the Neurobionics lab, conducting research on HRI for exoskeletal assistance, using economic indicators to gauge user value and experience.
